Researcher & Medical Writer

Hello! I'm Varsha, a researcher and medical writer based in Helsinki. I work at the intersection of genetics, genomics and cancer biology, using both experimental and evidence-synthesis approaches to understand how genetic variation shapes disease and treatment response. Alongside my lab and research work, I love translating complex science into clear, accessible writing for patients, clinicians and the wider public.

Research

My research centres on genetics, genomics and cancer biology. Most recently, I worked on cisplatin resistance in cervical cancer as a project researcher at the Cancer Institute (WIA), using cell-line models to identify genes and pathways linked to chemotherapy response. I have also worked on rare genetic conditions and the psychosocial impact of genomic medicine, including newborn genomic screening and migraine genetics.
